We're back baby!

And better than ever! After a number of years our aging webserver suffered massive hard disk failure. The failure was progressive so sometimes it would recover and other times: no such luck. Eventually the drives quit completely but luckily we had backups!

We're now back with new disk drives (faster to boot!) and plan on sticking around for a while longer. Cheers!

David Bright Morning is at it again. He's sent us two great new videos with instances of backmasking that he discovered. First up is ATC - Around the World which David points out has "some cool messages which have a lot of personal meaning for me and seem to shape my actions."

And the second one for today is Babes in Toyland - Deer Song. In the e-mail for this one David said: "I have figured out what is causing this......and your magical power comes from the fact that you will post these."

Nirvana Reader Video

Reader David Bright Morning sent in the following video. A little preface is necessary for this one. David initially e-mailed us in November regarding an entire Nirvana song which he said was backmasked. The backmasked lyrics he sent us apparently contained references to one D.M. or as he pointed out at the end of his e-mail: "(BTW, D.M. = David Morgan = David Bright Morning = Me)". Well, we didn't get a chance to look this one up yet, but thankfully David was helpful enough to create a Google video of his song, so without further ado we'd like to present Nirvana - Scentless Apprentice Live, aka Hey D.M.!:

Cloverfield Backmask

JJ Abrams' movie 'Cloverfield' hit the silver screen this last weekend. We should have known that the creator of Lost and some fairly complex viral marketing campaigns would put a backmasked clip in his work.

The backmasked sound occurs at the very end of the credits. There is debate as to whether the clip, as heard in the movie, is just gibberish or someone saying "Help Us!" (I tend to believe the former) You can hear the reverse clip here. Because the clip is from the end of the movie, do not listen to it if you don't want spoilers.
